A Local Love Letter to Shopping Small in West Chester, PA
There’s something special about walking down the streets of West Chester—especially when you’re intentionally choosing to spend your dollars with the incredible small businesses that make this town feel like a real community. As a photographer, I get to see how much heart people pour into their passions, and West Chester is full of those stories. So today, I’m sharing some of my favorite spots to shop small and support the amazing makers, dreamers, and do-ers right here in town.
Why Shop Small?
For me, it’s simple: when you shop small, you’re supporting someone’s actual dream. You’re helping keep a family afloat, investing in creativity, and adding fuel to a community that cares deeply about quality and connection. And honestly? The finds are just better.

My daughter is an amazing baker and, at the age of 12, very much a “foodie”…cannolis are her very favorite and she absolutely loves the cannolis at Gemelli’s. While you are there, try their delicious gelato as well.

This is an adorable children’s store that has a great selection of high quality toys and clothes with excellent customer service. Across the street is Tish, which is for adults and has some great clothes…but I was so busy trying clothes on that I forgot to photograph the store. Check out Tish after you go to Tish kids.
